Meet our Pastor
Hi. I’m Mark. I get to serve as Pastor here at Abundant Life. Since that is my role, you probably aren’t surprised to learn that I am an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church and that I have a B.A. in Theology from Gateway College of Evangelism (now Urshan College) in St. Louis, MO.
Here’s one thing you may not know, though: A large part of the reason I know Jesus today is because my Grandma was diligent to pick me up for Sunday School every week when I was just 6 years old and my parents weren’t serving God. Mom and Dad later came to know Christ as well and I would eventually serve my home church as Youth Director at the ripe old age of 16.
I am passionate about Men’s Ministry and am privileged to serve the United Pentecostal Church as the Illinois District Men’s Ministries Director. One of my favorite things about ministry of any kind is watching people take small consistent steps toward God over a period of time and then seeing Him miraculously do for them in a moment what they could not have done in a life time. That never stops being fun.
My four favorite people are as follows: Holly, my wife of 22 years. Everything is better with her. My son, Wesley, is 18 and in his first year of college. Caleb is 15 and will be driving soon. I am incredibly proud of both of these young men and can’t wait to see what God is going to do with their lives. My daughter, Jera, is 7 but she thinks she is 17. God has blessed me with a great family.
A few fun things I like to do are ride my Kawasaki Ninja and fly a drone (though not at the same time). I like sports but I’m now at the age where it always seems I used to be better at them than this. I love it when the Fall brings us Alabama football.
